The Signs We Justify and/or Ignore

People say that signs are everywhere, that they are all around us,
And we would see them had we been more conscious,
But signs are also funny things you see,
They can totally mess with your mind, if you let them be.

Sometimes your mind works in one way,
Kinda like magic tricks, they play,
Filtering out vital info, things you don’t want in the picture,
Or focus on what thrills you more, those info, they are captured.

Now it’s nice the mind does, with the tons of info you get, day in day out,
Helping you make better, sound decisions, away from the loud,
Problem is when we miss out something critical, that makes us ignorant,
Or worst still is when we see only what we wanna see, and that’s justification.

Throw in emotions in the mix, along with a pinch of hope and sprinkle of desire,
Then you’ll light up a burning passion, even from the dimmest of fires,
Well it would all be easier if you live in this world alone,
But put others in the equation, your discernment skills you better hone.

So 4am in the City of Bangkok, perhaps what I’m trying to get clear,
Is to accept things as they are, without judgement, wishful thinking or fear,
To suspend our choices, and to let life take its course,
And not create outcomes by sheer will or force,
To believe that the best is yet to come, that ray of light far beyond the horizon,
With memories I’ll remember by, even as time has come and gone.

Co-Founder of KICKSTART by night, Talent Development Consultant, organising workshops and conferences by day, and full-time single dad in between, Maverick is pretty much a renegade. An ex-monk who's always first to ask "why not?", Mav enjoys hacking the way things are done, and pretty much happy with the success rate of 50% (coz sometimes mom is right after all...). When it comes to business, give him a million bucks and he'll most probably get a new set of gadgets, drive home an Audi R8 and reload his Starbucks card. But give him little to nothing, and see how he starts switching on the little brain-matter between his ears. Challenge ACCEPTED!
